Floral heights Leadership

The staff and lay leadership here at Floral Heights UMC is comprised of men and women who love, care and pray for the people of our church and our community. They are constantly working to "do church better," by becoming completely focused on our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ.   • rev. Dr. Brian Bosworth

    Senior Pastor

    Brian came to Floral Heights in July of 2019. He previously served United Methodist Churches in Decatur, Sulphur Springs, and Greenville as pastor and also as a youth director in Heath prior to his appointment here as Senior Pastor. Before answering his call to ordained ministry, Brian served as a police officer and retired in 2005. Brian earned a BBA in Management from Texas A&M University, a Masters of Divinity from Southern Methodist University (Perkins School of Theology), and a Doctor of Ministry from Saint Paul School of Theology with a focus on Wesleyan Spirituality, Leadership, and Congregational Renewal. Brian is married to Melissa and they have two adult children who both have families. Daughter Megan is married to Evan and they have two children, Hudson and Presley. Son Corey is married to Kate and they have two children, Blake and Kylie. Brian enjoys traveling, camping, golf, coffee, mission work, riding motorcycles, and spending time with family. He continues to volunteer in law enforcement.


    office manager

    Laurie came to Floral Heights to be our Office Manager in October 2001. Since then, she's become absolutely essential to our church functioning at its best as she handles all administrative duties. In her spare time, she enjoys walking for exercise and spending time with her family. Laurie loves working at the church, as she's developed many special lifelong friendships here.

  • Brooks Cain

    outreach & hospitality director

    Brooks and her husband Chris, raised their three daughters, Katie, Sydney and Abbie here at Floral Heights UMC, where she served in numerous volunteer leadership positions in children and youth ministries through the years. Now, Brooks' specialty at church is the Tuesday & Thursday Community Lunch outreach program that provides meals to people in the community.  She is a team player and steps up wherever she's needed.

    Mother's Day Out Director

    Hope is our Director of Mother's Day Out. She has been employed at Floral Heights UMC since 1983 and has served as Nursery Director in the past, too. It's not uncommon for adults to come visit her at Mother's Day Out and reminisce about childhoods spent in the Floral Heights nursery with Hope. She loves children and they love her, too. She is married to Ernie and is a mother and grandmother. 


    Program/CHoir Director

    Karen Lamberth has served as choir/program director at Floral Heights since 1997.  Prior to that, she served as Chancel Choir/Music Director in a part-time role while teaching elementary music in the Iowa Park ISD. Karen is married to John and they have 2 grown children and a beautiful granddaughter named Winnie. Hebrews 13: 15-16 is the mantra by which Karen strives to live life.

    Director of Family Ministries

    Jessie and her husband Brandon have 2 spunky kids, Parker and Porter, who keep life busy and fun!  When the family is not on the soccer field, they enjoy camping and other outdoor activities.  As the Director of Family Ministries, Jessie has the privilege of coordinating special children’s events, all church events and weekly ministries for children.  She also directs SEEK Camp, a week long summer camp for children with special needs, which is sponsored by the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.  If you have any questions about Family Ministries, please contact Jessie at jsmithfhumc@gmail.com.

  • Gary  Tahmahkera

    Assistant to the pastor

    Gary is truly our jack-of-all-trades. He serves in worship as an assistant pastor, preaching occasionally, teaching Bible Studies and regularly leading prayers. He handles a good deal of building maintenance needs as well, because he's so handy. Gary and his wife Barbara have also served as youth leaders on various trips around the country. 

  • Chelsey Hajek

    Business Manager

    Chelsey currently attends Midwestern State University and is working on her BBA in Accounting. She is expected to graduate in the summer of 2022. Prior she obtained her Associates in Business Management from North Central Texas College. She has experience in non-profit, fundraising and property management. In her spare time she raises alpacas and enjoys the outdoors with her family.
