Pastor David Turner

David J. Turner is married to his wife of 32 years, Joy, and has three grown children and six grandchildren. David has been a member of the North Texas Annual Conference for 27 years. He served Lone Oak UMC, Wesley UMC (associate) and College Mound UMC as a student and then was appointed to Trinity UMC (Wichita Falls) as his first appointment out of seminary. He had the privilege of being the Pastor at Trinity for nine years and helped relocate the church to its present location. After that, David served Lakewood UMC in East Dallas, New World UMC in Garland and is currently the Pastor of First UMC, Irving.
David graduated from Greenville High School in 1973, and attended East Texas State University. Later, he graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky with a degree in Psychology and attended Asbury Theological Seminary focusing on Pastoral Counseling. Later, he graduated with the Master of Divinity degree from Perkins School of theology, SMU.
Currently David and Joy have a full house. Margaret Chambliss (David’s mother) lives with them. Also, for now, David and Joy’s son John David and wife Elizabeth live with them along with grandson Jack.
Wichita Falls is the place David and Joy raised their family and are honored to be appointed to Floral Heights UMC.
